The Burgemugg Monster - Lazarus Golem

Otto Von Berainz, a very talented but disturbed scholar and scientist who spent his life obsessed by weird experiments in an isolated castle turned into a science laboratory near the village of Burgemugg, Romania. The castle and town were named after an ancestor of his wife's maternal family. The Baron went by the name of Dr. Buggemugg after being disowned by his aging father for his erratic and obstreperous behavior.

The local officials questioned Dr. Buggemugg/Von Berainz because of gossip surrounding his research and the dissection of corpses "borrowed" from the coroners and newly dug graves were later discovered, mutilated and missing "bits," in the neighboring woods. Suspicions grew to hysterical accusations when the living folk from the village community started disappearing.

The infamous "Burgemugg Monster" was a golem sown together from anatomical pieces of the stolen corpses and kidnapped townsfolk and then brought to life by electricity. The monster rampaged through the area slaying all in its path, including Von Berainz and his wife, Freika, the beautiful daughter and heir of the late Istvan Buggemugg, former Lord of Buggemugg.

The monster was finally trapped in a windmill which was burned to the ground by a mob of villagers in 1840. The Buggemugg Golem survived the murderous village mob somehow and "lived" on, taking part in several well publicized adventures. So many stories were written about his destruction and reappearance that the monster was referred to by the press as the Lazarus Golem.
